The Season Is Upon Us

The holiday season is upon us
A time of joy and good will
Well wishing and good tidings
A time to celebrate dreams

I have no more dreams to dream
Nothing else to celebrate
I am worn out and tired long before the season arrives
I can't find the joy that other show, it seems.

Another empty year of unfulfilled wishes
Another season of dreams turned nightmares
Wishes not just unanswered, but trampled and kicked into the gutters
Like a dying bird, in an icy puddle its one wing flutters

Yes, the holidays have come about again
In full swing
Regular, steady, unstoppable
Just as relentless as a pendulum
